Providing referrals and subsidies for training for both individuals and businesses is an important responsibility of the Eastern Carolina Workforce Development Board.

Training providers certified through ECDWB must maintain high quality and ethical standards as well as provide relevant training for our nine-county region.

The Board identifies Occupations in Demand, based upon regional needs, and allocates funding for training for those occupations. By design, ECWDB is structured to respond quickly to changes in occupational demands due to economic situations (such as plant closings, new businesses locating in the region or existing businesses expanding) or unforseen situations (such as hurricanes, floods or other natural disasters). The combination of a clearly defined regional focus and the flexiblity to respond quickly to regional needs allows ECWDB to effectively and responsibly fund training needs.
